Afterward, now Microsoft is back on improving the next generation of Microsoft Surface. This Technology is called SecondLight, the second generation of Microsoft Surface, which is still on improvement phase, but Microsoft has demonstrated it on last TechFest 2009 on February.

The demo showed how SecondLight could capture images through a projector inside it, and then, detecting gesture on the display, certainly because of the infrared sensor inside it. It means we do not have to present interface user on SecondLight surface.

Microsoft Research describes this SecondLight technology work with LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) mixer, which can be switched electronically or with electricity power as display projector of SecondLight. The material will switch between glow status and “clean” back, and then switching process becomes very fast and invisible. When it is on glow, then the system becomes like the usual Microsoft Surface, but when it is on “clean” then it will project the image area on the display.
